Good to be back, thanks to Jon and Ray!

As I reflect, I love the old English verges , French verges,
and cylinders. On the American side, I love my American
and English Tremont's.

Going forward I will still be on the hunt.

To note, I lost my old German Shep to old age, she was
at 100 lb plus and reached the ripe old age of 13.

I'll check this evening at our site. As for that other MSG board,
I'll let the senior 149 members represent all.

Perhaps after Covid 19 I'll meet some of you folks in person.

Tis always hard when you loose your favorite fur person.

But you will always have the memories and perhaps there will be another one.

I am onto no 4 and wouldn't be without my mate.

It may be quiet here but Ebay and the auction world is alive and well. Last year was a record by far for my Ebay sales and Jan this year was good, from junk to higher items, I see very little weakness in the market. On the buy side very difficult to buy anything at a good price unless you are out in the field and face to face buying. Geno

The weather here is not bad although it was extremely cold last week for three days.

What ever the weatherman says about where I live is always wrong--we had several snows and the piles from the plows are very high and little has melted except for two days ago (Tues) when the temp hit 44 degrees. I actually like the snow but wind and blizzards with deep cold can be tough--last one was in 2015 with three ft of snow.

Pets for many of us pets are family! And many know who comprises my family! Smile

. My little darlin' isn't too happy right now because of the lack of sunshine for sunning herself in various windows depending the time of day. Keith, I fully understand the devastation losing a pet; sorry for your loss.

Now for watches: most know what I like but finding anything I need/like is tough. No new ones this year but the past several years were banner years for me adding some true Gems of the First Water to the core coll'n!

BTW: anyone catch the 74 early American coin sale of 74 pieces that brought nearly 20M?

Now, now Keith, what about those other early American favorites?

Your right Jon..............I've been slack on pictures for
sometime.

I took a quick snap of my original JF Pitkin of Buffalo NY.
It's a hunter from Henry & JF'S Firm 1852. They also made
English levers for the American market.

*James Pitkin actually died about 1849 and Henry in 1846.
The operation of H & JF Pitkin continued under a former
employee, A. Hells, until 1852 and closed. The case is
hallmarked for 1853 out of England. I date the watch to
1852, closer to the case hall mark of 53.

Found some old pics............Note, both Henry and James
lived two houses apart in Buffalo, NY

PS....Our KY weather is mild compared to Jon's regarding
the cold and opposite of Ray's (heat).

Good to hear from Wes B also.

This lever came from a farmer just down the road.

The early American jewelers from the 1850's always captured
my interest. Oliver Gerrish was my first 17J English lever by
an American jeweler.

Jon's #46 Pitkin is an example of the first American
made Going barrel watch in 1838. Most jewelers in
America provided English fusee's until their demise in the
1870's.
