Hi, a Barrauds Duplex is pretty rare with the Ruby still unbroken, it is just above the Bottom Pivot. The first 2 photos show the Sellers photos as I purchased the movement. |

As you can see it was pretty dirty and described by seller with a broken Balance Pivot and no Dial. |

After lots of cleaning it looks like this; the good thing is that there are no broken Pivots; the Hairspring is Distorted and stopping the Balance moving correctly. |

The Ruby, (Pink Bit) just above the Brass Keeper on the Bottom Pivot is a piece of Ruby that has been Drilled and shaped to Size and then has a Slot Cut in it. Could we do this Today? I am not sure? |

Hi, it is interesting that there is lots about Barraud & Lunds, if you look on the internet, but very little about Barraud's of Cornhill London and nothing about Barraud's Duplex Pocket Watches. The 4 Spoke Balance Wheel is unusual? |

Take notice everyone--a very educational post with excellent photos.
I think Ray is a real gem here!
Thanks, Ray, for the information--something new and different for the members. |

I want to thank Ray for his most excellent post. It really is enlightening! I have the Pennington ruby duplex and was wondering how they cut it back then.
Thanks Ray!

Hi Paul, I have asked my friend who is one of the best Watchmakers in the UK how the Ruby was drilled and cut; I do know, but I would like to get a more accurate description from him; he does not want his name mentioned as he has too much work as it is. How about a post about the Pennington ruby duplex? |

Ray, do you have the 2 Barraud books, by C. Jagger and E. M. Barraud? |
