Hi, from the tiny Village of Bildeston, this going Verge Pocket Watch which I got for what I have been paying for Sterling Silver Cases with no movement. "Sellers description: Beautiful, and nice Quality example of a chain driven Solid Silver Hunter verge signed - J or T Colman of Bildeston (Suffolk)
** Ticks beautifully in all positions.**
Movement is in lovely but just dirty condition.
The movement is beautifully pierced and engraved on the balance cock.
Gilding is fantastic.
Nice blued heads on the screws.
Dial does have hairlines and damage (pic)
Hands present but not matching.
Bezel is present but no glass.
Case is in great condition case front lid flies up great on an excellent fly spring and snaps shut lovely..

Case great condition, hardly any dings.
Lovely early piece."
This 1812 Case is an attempt to make a Dustless Case with the Lid shutting in a Groove; I put some Hands on just for the Photo. Case maker is Charles Tisdall at 13 Greenhill Rents. It's not too often that you see an English watch of this period which winds through the dial; I guess the state of the dial around the winding square explains why not! I like the little flourish on the index pointer.

| I do not have a Crystal at the moment; a problem is that to Wind the Pocket you have to open the Bezel. |

| Ray, I have seen in years past some clever watchmakers turn a brass piece to cover the damaged porcelain winding holes for a "better" look! |

Yes, these "dustproofs" are very interesting--unappreciated by the American crowd.
To be brutally honest I HATE those dial winds for the very reasons we addressed earlier, but they are what the are! |
