It's been going on since the 1970's Manny Tauring, La Rose, etc...
It will never end as long as the ignorant keep buying... |

It will never end because there is money in it.
As I keep saying people only do things when it is to their advantage.
If you want to protect original watches you have to find a way to make them worth more as they are.
Some kind of certificate to prove it is what it is.
Something that adds value to it.
Something that will be lost if you mess with the watch so that it will COST you money to switch parts.
Did you notice he called those dials DS dials.
Likely doesn't know what double sunk means. |

The real reason guys fake stuff is because they are too ignorant or lazy to learn to make an honest living doing the right thing. |

They fake stuff cause they can get away with it.
No different to anything else.
That's why many other collectables have a system in place to authenticate.
Coins ?
Stamps ?
Vintage Cars ?
Paintings ?
Even pedigree dogs get faked and that is why you only get a dog with papers if you want to get serious about breeding to make money.
That is also why the ones with papers are worth more cause you KNOW they are right. |

Why would anyone want to spend good money to fake a Burlington or a SantaFe dial? ...and furthermore....who gives a $#IT? Except for Johnny LaCambria's Sangamo Burlington they aren't worth restoring. I know this was a snotty thing to say but...it's true. |

Per Dr. Snyder's Illinois database, the Burlington Sangamo run was from 1,984,511 to 1,984,610.
Movement 1,1984,610 is shown below. |

I believe I have John's Burlington, Sangamo Grade.....
Still as received in skeleton case...
believe obtained in Daytona when we delivered him to the airport....
Most Burlington Getty cases 'out there' have more wear than this movement/dial combo shows, so the skeleton case is most appropriate.
I've seen these dials on evay, so why a refinished one??? |

Dials for these have different feet from the usual common Burlingtons. |
