I have an 18K gold case with case marks F.R. & Co which I believe to be by Frederick Rapp & Co, a company mentioned in Warren Niebling's History of the American Watch Case. The case is of high quality and has unusual engine turning, and deeply etched edges bordering a reeded band.

The case houses an imported movement by John Johnson of Liverpool, England, and probably dates to 1845-1855.

I'd like to know if anyone can confirm this is by Rapp, and if soin which city Rapp operated, and during which dates.
