For those who continually harp about whether or not the A&P 1018 was ever cased........... All the talk I have been reading is speculation, guesswork, sewing circle and word salad stuff!

PURE NONSENSE--this movement has been a movement only, possibly from a scraped gold case, for a long time judging by the dirt, handling; however, used screw slots and other marks would not appear on an uncased (and theoretically unused) movement.

I have many UNUSED and uncased movements that are NEW and this A&P is NOT new under the dirt.

About 1990 I acquired 4 American grade 1872 gold dome movements that came from an Eastern supply house--THESE WERE NEVER CASED and WERE UNUSED! They were PERFECT GEMS without screw slot and other marks.

This is another legit rationalization for keeping a movement-only collection.
