Tom,

Do you know how much these NAWCC webinars cost to operate?

Do you know how many actually sign up each for watch and for clock webinars?

Congrats on you reelection.

Howard

Thanks Howard,
I don't know the figures, but I will check with HQ and report them here.

Howard,
These are the numbers I received from HQ regarding webinars.
1. There have been 8 webinars to date
2. There have been a total of 556 attendees, with 953 views of recorded videos and 193 youtube views.
3. Our cost is $149 per month for site rental and an undetermined amount of time by the staff. I'm guessing several hours for each webinar.
4. As of yet there is no fee to view the webinars.
Hope this answers your questions. It's raised a few of my own.
Thanks for the interest.

Hi Tom,

What are your questions, Tom?

How many watch webinars have there been to date? Watch webinars? What is your opinion of these?

Thank you.

Jon

PS Tom, did you happen to listen to the program last week?

Of the 8 webinars on the NAWCC website, 2 are on wristwatches and 2 are on pocket watches. I did find it a bit difficult to find, but an upcoming webinar is advertised on the main page.
I understand more webinars are being solicited, which might be a good project for this group.
The only question I have is whether this medium is worth the time and effort to pursue. I've watched one about Syndney advertising clocks (they are free so far) and found it very informative, so I think this could be a valuable educational tool. Right now it seems to be in its infancy..

How do the NAWCC webinars differ from something like this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nraAimX0TEg

Shows about 12500 views in 18 months.

This guy has a bunch of stuff available and from what I can see it is all free for view. There are many others, Some good, some rubbish.

I believe they get money from advertising but exactly how I am not sure.

Here is another part of the case series. 13 parts all up.

I've attended 1.5 of them. and then watched the the .5 one in its' entirety online after the fact. I believe I saw reference to the 1st one online, and the 2nd one was part of a NAWCC info message I received after signing up for notifications. Both were very good.

Stephan, I'm not sure I follow your point. The German guy makes excellent videos over obviously a lot of time for each video. Kudos to him for doing that and then making his videos available online. But I'd call those instructional videos, with a lot more time and effort required by the maker. The webinar format is (as far as I've seen them) (a) presentation, followed by real-time (b) Q&A. Something different IMO, in terms of objective and resources required to produce.

And I'd like more of all of the above! Smile

The other one I saw was "The War Alarm", about alarm clock making during WWII - the premise was that most all clock making was ended, except for the alarm clock which helped ensure war industry workers got to work on time ...

I also signed up for “Do You Know What Time It Is? The Establishment of Time Zones in the United States”, but had to skip it ...
