A while ago we had a discussion on what constituted a fancy American case. Jon and Geno mentioned a "Face Case." A gold buyer/Jeweler/Watch Aficionado friend of mine owns a Face Case and generously allowed me shoot it with my trusty iPhone.

Boiz, this is what a fancy case looks like!

That's it, like the one I saw 35 years ago in the hands of now deceased TR.

My friend has owned this case for quite a while. He uses it and a couple of his other treasures in all of his graphics. He has been a jewelry buyer for a long time. He has taught me a lot about wrist watches and I have taught him a lot about pockets. Once when he was in a pinch he almost broke down and sold it to me...but he changed his mind.

All I can say is WOW!

I have never seen anything like it. It is completely hand carved.

Thanks for sharing John!!

From memory I believe this example to be superior to the one Geno and I viewed decades ago.

In the hand is is very nice but not perfect. I don't think there is anything about the case that couldn't be made right but it needs a bit of hinge work on the front hinge (opens a bit too far) and it needs a flat crystal for the bezel over the movement. I will probably just install a crystal for my buddy.

I don't have as many crystals as you do Jon but I can tell you that if I but one in this watch I will still have too many.
