Just picked up a square cased Hebdomas pocket watch.

He needs a bit of TLC but how many do you see.

That prompted me to ask if there are any other square cased watches about.

I have an alarm watch ( also not American ) that is square but what else is about.

???????

Have started working on my square case.
It was a bit of a mess when I got it.

Here is the case itself part way through the restoration process.
It has been cleaned up, old bluing removed and a bit of polishing done.
I don't like to go all the way cause they never look right.
They loose something.
I prefer it to keep its old used look.

Beside it is the inner snap on cover which has been refinished.
I think it looks about right.

It is sometimes a challenge to think up a name for a case style.
There are always a number of different opinions.

With this one there can be no doubt.
They conveniently stamped the name on the inside.

This is the finished product.

I am happy with it.

Here is the same thing in Silver Plate.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Antique-Table-Hebdomas-8-days-Swiss-Pocket-Watch-/161409431061?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2594c07615

Interesting to note that for some reason it appears to be pin set.
Case looks the same with same markings inside. Just silver plated.

Wonder if they did a gold plated one.
