I would like to get some sort of reference value for this 12 size 23j gr299 Illinois. I understand that very few were made in a hunting case. This one has a very sharp clean movement. Dial has no hairlines or chips. Case is good. Hinges work properly to 90 degrees. It runs but certainly needs a service. Yes, I am going to sell this watch so I need to know a ballpark figure of value. Thanks guys,

Larry

This is a neat watch Larry. I understand that only 110 were made. These are sort of like little Bunn Specials.

As far as the value is concerned I have no clue. Values come from comparable sales and I can't remember ever seeing one in 23j either hunter or open face sell. What I do know is that it will appeal to a small segment of collectors. They will be Illinois fanatics and fanatics for the odd ball stuff.

It should be worth about what some of the other high grade Illinois 12 size watches are worth but "Should" is a really bad word.

I might have thought that too but can you really be sure Bryan? How many have you seen of the 110?

Russ' database has an image of 2208304, private label marked for Ariston

Here's the DB chart click to view the word file.

Well, since I don't have a DS dial, this one will have to do. Smile

So, I'm going to list this on ebay, I've seen a couple 410's go for 400.00 plus. It seems this is a much rarer watch, so does anyone have an idea of value? I'd like to set a reserve of 400.00. Am I all wet??

I think it is worth $400 but again, I have no frame of ref. I think the 410 etc are actually a bit higher grade but certainly not as scarce.

Here is a grade 299 I had in the 2.15M range, this is the type of dial I would have thought it should have

I have two 21J grade 299's: one PL mvmt with a single sunk PL dial, and one with a double sunk dial with gothic lettering ... I was willing to pay about $200 for each.

For very hi grade and price the SB have to be the most underpriced and unloved of all!
