Jon,
Having seen these watches...which were worthy of the "world record" prices? BTW, from the pictures the Late Production 21j '72 American grade looked like it had a replacement cap jewel setting in the balance cock and looked a bit faded. I was surprised at that price. |

I thought the Waltham Ball WI was worth every penny it brought. I've never even heard of one until this auction. |

Just how many times has someone bought a watch from a dealer, old collection, auction, etc that DIDN"T NEED SOMETHING??? |

Have the members noticed lately all of "the victims" suddenly appearing, whining, complaining, lack of funds crying, slow computers, the venue, etc., etc.
What a joke! |

Jon-
I do not post/read the GB. Are you saying these people have buyers remorse from this auction? Or are they just complaining about not being able to buy anything? |

Through the grapevine I have heard all kinds of things--a lot of whining, lack of funds, lack of knowledge, etc.
One idiot actually stated that rare watches are now common--is that the most idiotic statement you have heard?
In fact one well known nat asser every time some rare and expensive watch sells, this clown always has to alert everyone that he was at a previous sale of the given piece but he had no money at the time. He never has any money..........
Again, it all amounts to fear, ignorance/stupidity, lack of/unwilling to spend funds.. |

I believe this catalogue will go down in history as a must have in one's library, esp. if you like and/or collect early American watches. |

I heard that right before the auction, but after all you wrote above, do you still believe that?
I heard way in advance of that auction to be very careful.

Can you name any other American sale of America watches that EVEN REMOTELY COMES TO CLOSE of the offering in this sale?
(I am certain there were many watches you had never seen or hear of in this sale).
Tag line: One has to be careful IN ALL AUCTIONS!
Last tag: I wrote the above post two months after the sale. |

There were some I hadn't heard of - mostly the.early American ones. I was surprised to see all the San Jose's and California's, and Otays
Was that among the best the good doctor had, or was he dumping his extras? A strange-looking question but I heard that he has a l-a-r-g-e collection. |
