Someone asked elsewhere if the economy is bringing out new finds?

Well, all seasoned collectors know that new finds are to be seen or bought NO MATTER WHAT THE STATE OF THE ECONOMY. Certainly high gold prices has brought out a higher abundance of watches that were originally cased in gold from non collector sources.

But, understand that most families ultimately release (sell) family heirlooms eventually; or they get stolen as with a recent situation just a week ago from a well known family originally from Boston.

Bottom line--good watches are selling quite well, as are choice USA coins (check the Newman coll prices). The state of the economy has not hurt these categories whatsoever.

Tagline: some folks need to sell assets no matter what the collectible and no matter what the economy for all kinds of different reasons.

Don't forget all those people with no will or one that is not watertight
( few actually are these days )

Only way to settle a dispute is to sell the item in question and divide the cash. Guess who gets a cut.

I believe this explains a few of the watches that go for really stupid prices.

Either someone already owns half or
someone is determined not to let that other "&%^$@$^*^%" get it.
