After a lot of pain Victoria has just had it's 12 day of no deaths and no new cases.
Things are starting to open up again and life is assuming a bit of normality.
So what do the people in charge want to do ?
Desperate to get the Tourist dollars flowing again they are talking about travel bubbles.
With Taiwan ? Sure they got things right.
With japan ? Why not they have also done a good job.
With New Zealand ? Yes they have got it right.
With China ? WTF
Plus the really dumb part is that if you look at the figures OUR tourists spend more OS than we get back from visitors.
So why not just get people to go on holidays here ???????????????? |

There has been a bit of drama brewing between the Australian Government and the big internet companies for a while now.
It stems from the notion that people who use commercial content such as is supplied by newspapers and media outlets should pay for it.
Naturally those providers agree and people like Google and Facebook don't.
Some time ago the Government agreed to the point of drafting some new legislation to formalize the idea and the opposition has thrown their full support behind the idea ensuring it will come to pass.
In anticipation of this Google has come to an arrangement with those providers and moneys have changed hands.
Facebook on the other hand will have none of it and they have said they will block all Australian news content.
This started to happen overnight.
So if you find certain links or feeds you have been using on Facebook suddenly stop working , and this extends to things like weather, health warnings, bushfire sites etc, this may be the reason.
The thing that annoys me about all this is that up to now when some obnoxious post about something most regular folk don't want to read about appeared on Facebook and they were asked to remove it their stance was they had no control over what their users posted.
It would now appear they were not being entirely honest.
Will be interesting to see if they get their way with all this or if they have just shot themselves in the foot. |
