There is nothing better than a crisp gold hunter with original patina. There is nothing worse than a badly worn gold hunter that has been polished to death. Then there are the grades in between and that determines if the case will live or die. Worn gold barely makes it to the scrap price plus the movement, but there are still great premiums on unmolested and original gold hunters in crisp condition. This mostly applies to big cases and not ladies sizes or open face plain cases. The problem, especially the last 5 years is that there was very little of the great condition gold and tons of the badly worn stuff. The flipping game is Ebay to auction and vice versa, the problem is most of the items bring about the same in either venue making it very hard to flip and profit unless you are buying from the public and other non internet sources. The last thing is an item almost always brings the most the first time it is offered, try reoffering an ebay item the second time due to a non paying bidder and the price will almost always be lower. This has become a MASSIVE problem on ebay, particularly with Chinese buyers.

They knowingly manipulate many first sales by running up and not paying.

I call these "tarnished" goods.
