This topic may have been covered piecemeal before, but I Iove these watches, and would like to see what's out there.

Kenny,

I have shown this one before, but not for a while. I think it fits the bill. It's not an American watch but it has good American provenance.

A great watch and a great story, John. Owning something that belonged to that man is very cool.

Thanks for sharing!

It's so hard to believe that 1880 was nearly 130 years ago Shocked

Try 140 yrs ago and a lot has happened within the world of watchmaking during this time. For me I like the earlier period even better better!

I have various Presidential American Watch Co. life saving watches. I have one here and as a 72 it doesn't fit the criteria above. It is a GOTFW and all originall and not even an American grade. Rhett's bud sold it to me for 1k and said, "you can switch it into a 21J American grade."

Nope -- now way I say!

Jon, I wasn't hard and fast on the pre-1880. Maybe I should have said pre-1930 or so. Presentation watches are special, whatever year they are.
