There has been a bit of a battle going on over here over same sex marriage.
The politicians got hold of it and polarized it like they do with everything else and it ended up with the conservatives on one side and the equal rights people on the other side.
After much heat on both sides they decided to have a vote by the people.
Not a referendum or a plebiscite because they made it so the results would be non binding so it was a sort of a non vote just to see how we felt about it.
That was done and the results in this morning.
61% for yes and 39% for no.
So we will shortly be getting marriage equality when they had finished fighting about the legislation and how to ensure freedom of religion for those who don't believe int this.
Imagine being hauled up before some court for discrimination because you would not marry 2 men or 2 women.
The scary part for me is that this was such a win for the yes side you begin to wonder how it might shift politics in general as people look for an edge and see some advantage to be gained here.
