Would those who attended please list their reports here.

While preliminary reports on attendance were good, I believe having such an important yearly event on a FORTH OF JULY WEEKEND was not a wise idea. Considering that new wave thinking of open Saturdays for the public certainly would put a damper on such a July 1st date.

I know I will get trashed here for posting an optimistic and happy about the show message but this was a really good National. As of yesterday there were over 1200 registered attendees and more registrations expected today. I think there were nearly 100 new members and renewals at the door.

I sold a ton of goods and walked away with 2 great watches...one pocket and one wrist. I saw more really amazing American Grades than ever at a Regional or National including a huge array or beeeeeautiful '88's.

The whole show was really well organized by the folks from 124 and Darrah's chapter in Houston. I saw a lot of smiles and heard almost no bitching.

I had a great time. I hope some other folk chime in.

Overall ok, I heard of a few nice snags during set-up but the best value changed hands at the pre-show.

For me, lots of inventory but only one keeper.

Great seeing Geno, Cote, Luckes, Hansons, and other 149'rs.

For me it was an awful buying show as there there many overpriced watches everywhere and many other other dealers also stated this. I was able to acquire some nice wrist watch parts for stock. The attendance was very good which I thought was interesting considering the heat and humidity. It would have been better to have the national with a hotel or convention center close to an airport but I guess those days are gone.

To sum it up hot and humid location, very good attendance and a generally poor buying show for dealers.

Lance

Nationals in JULY are a bad idea--too much heat and humidity, esp. in South, East and mid WEST.

HAVE THEM IN MAY or EARLY JUNE.

Yes, I know why the late dates--cheaper venues and graduations and weddings; SO CHARGE MORE FOR THE TABLES!
