Need help with current value on an 18S Coin Silver hunter case by Crescent. Case has light wear and all functions work properly. Crown is excellent. Not weighed, but about 3.5 to 4 ounce case. Strong fancy scrollwork on edge of case ring and on outer circumferance of both covers. Multicolor gold flowers and initialled gold crest inlays on one cover. Second cover has large yellow gold pointer dog inlay on green gold turf inlay. Detail on dog and turf still strong - most of dog's fur and face, and individual blades of grass on turf are distinct. There is an even dark patina on the silver portion of the case. Will take photos and post if that helps.
Thanks! |

In my opinion, for whatever that's worth, the case itself has an established value that is determined by the silver content and the weight. By that I mean that if a 3-ounce class case is worth $100.00 a 6-ounce case is worth exponentially more, as the higher you go in weight the scarcer these heavier cases are.
Now, it is near impossible to put a value on all of the embellishments, because the value for that is strictly in the eyes of the beholder.
Forinstance, you may value a case at say $200.00 that has flowers on it when I might value the same case at $350.00 if it had horses or butterflies.
Those are my feelings regarding your question. |

Dan without seeing it these usually go for $350-$400. Mint examples bring over $500.

I bid $360 on one similar and it went for $410 just to give an idea. |

The attached photos may help. Sorry I'm not much of a photographer, but I'm a helluva engineer. Covers open to 90 degrees and case is tight. The detail is a little bit sharper than image shows.

I'm happy with these opinions of value as I picked it up for considerably less. |

I'll stick with $300 for anybody's money to $450 if you find the right man. |
